Hi, my name is Roisin, I am 16 yrs old and I have been handling my Grans dogs since I was 7 yrs old. I am in my last year of Junior Handling. This is being a member of the Junior Handling Association. To become a member you need to contact;
Mrs L Cartledge at Ryslip Kennels, Church Lane, Binfield, Bracknell, Berks RG4 25NL.
You can enter a JHA class at an Open or Championship Show in your age group. If you get a 1st. 2nd. Or 3rd in your class this qualifies you to enter the semi finals for JHA. At Richmond Championship Show in September.
I am also a member of the Young Kennel Club (http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/meet/young_kc.html) this allows me to enter the YKC Stakes and YKC Handling classes at Open and Championship Shows in which you may compete until your 25th. Birthday.
I am very proud that 2 yrs ago I qualified with YKC Handling at Bournemouth Championship Show to go to Crufts in the 12-16 yrs handling class that I won handling an Irish Setter that belonged to a friend of ours.
I am now judging both Handling and Breed Classes, and was very honoured when P & SKA asked me to teach the up and coming juniors at our club on a Wednesday night. I am able to spend about Half an hour each week in the foyer with the juniors, then on every 2nd to last Wednesday of each month I am able to have one of the mats in the hall from 7-45 until 8-15 so that the juniors are able to get the feel of what to do at a show.
I hope to see you each week and help you to learn the things you will need to know for JHA.
I look forward to meeting you all on Wednesday Night’s at 7-45pm. See you soon Roisin.
Children under the age of 6 may train, however they cannot compete at any show's until they reach the age of six. (KC Rules).
